Yoda is a 3 year-old, 32-pound sweetheart currently being fostered in San Diego. His journey hasn’t been easy—he was pulled from the San Bernardino shelter after being labeled aggressive and scheduled for euthanasia. Thankfully, Yoda’s foster mom quickly learned that he wasn’t aggressive at all—just scared and misunderstood. He also had double cherry eye which he had surgery to correct as well as being neutered while in foster care, which both of which are completely healed.

Yoda has a sensitive stomach and requires a special diet. He eats about 1.5 can of Zignature Zssential canned dog food per day. Kibble and even homemade options like chicken and rice cause him to regurgitate, so it’s essential his adopter sticks with his canned diet, which costs about $5.50 per day. He also receives a daily probiotic and daily eye drops, both of which are available over the counter.

Yoda is the ultimate cuddlebug. His favorite place is snuggled up on your shoulder—he considers himself a “shoulder dog,” not just a lapdog! When he’s not cuddling, he loves gnawing on Nylabones (great for his teeth) and carrying around chuck-it balls (although he’s not quite mastered the art of fetch). He’s energetic and adores walks and car rides but can be wary of hoses during gardening time.

He’s a well-behaved, non-destructive pup who is learning from his foster siblings. While he doesn’t bark at knocks or passing strangers, he can be vocal when separated from his person. Yoda’s separation anxiety has significantly improved.  He would  love to accompany you to work or spend his days in a home with a yard where he can burn off his energy.

Yoda is dog-friendly with the right introductions, but prefers peaceful coexistence over active play. He’s also cat-friendly but uninterested in them. While he hasn’t met small children yet, he’s expected to do well with a slow introduction.

Yoda is crate-trained and improving with potty training. He’s eager to please and picks up on routines quickly, especially with patient guidance.

Yoda is looking for a loving family who understands his dietary needs and can provide the time and affection he craves. He’ll thrive with someone who enjoys cuddles, is home often, and can handle his energetic, affectionate personality.

Yoda has overcome so much and is ready to fill your home with love, loyalty, and endless cuddles. Are you ready to be his forever person?
