Trooper is a handsome 1.5-year-old boy weighing 26 pounds. After being rescued from a shelter where he was facing euthanasia due to a neglect case, Trooper got the second chance he deserved. Since entering foster care, he has been treated for a cold, worms, and parasites, and is now fully vaccinated, neutered, and in excellent health.

Trooper is an incredibly sweet, affectionate dog who loves being around people. His favorite things include children, chew toys, stuffed animals, beef treats! He also enjoys lounging in the sunshine and spending time with his favorite humans.

 

His foster family describes him as a calm, easygoing companion with a medium energy level and a very high affection level. Trooper loves attention and will happily follow you from room to room before settling down beside you for hours. He rarely barks, is not destructive, and has no aggressive behaviors.

Trooper is especially wonderful with children and enjoys being around toddlers. He is gentle,

 loving, and naturally protective of the people he cares about. Because he can be sensitive to loud noises and sudden hand movements, he would thrive in a calm, stable home environment where he can continue building confidence.

 

He gets along great with other dogs of all sizes and has successfully lived in a multi-dog household. He is both crate trained and potty trained, making him an easy addition to many homes.

Trooper would do well as either an only dog or in a home with canine companions. His ideal family will provide plenty of love, affection, and companionship. He walks nicely on a leash, but he should not be allowed off leash in public areas, as he may run if startled. A securely fenced yard where he can soak up the sun would be a dream come true for him.

 

And one fun fact about Trooper: he's not exactly the most photogenic pup! While he may not always cooperate for the camera, he has mastered the art of giving a hilarious side-eye whenever someone tries to take his picture.
